An Improbable Return picks up with Nathan’s death, or at least the death of his physical body. In spirit, he observes the events surrounding his funeral, tapping into the minds of the characters in attendance. Nathan later finds himself inhabiting the body of Wake Jones, a young man from Essex, and is confronted with the challenges of this irksome arrangement. With their separate yet intertwined existences, Nathan and Wake grapple with the ramifications of being two distinct personalities within one body.
